Overview

All of the cabinets are made of solid maple using frame and panel construction for the sides and backs. Tops, bottoms and shelves are solid maple with walnut inlay. No plywood or particle board was used. Cupboard door panels are 1/4″ plywood with veneer on the back and various woods glued to the front to make landscape scenes using a technique called intarsia. Drawers are solid maple with dovetails both front and back. Drawer bottoms are Birdseye maple veneer. Fridge and dishwasher fronts are veneered. The floor is cork. The countertop is coloured cast concrete with granite and brass inlay. Construction time for the kitchen was 6 months.
